Aaron Chavez is the founder of Unconventional Ventures, a consulting and education company built to bring proven business strategy and execution frameworks to early-stage founders and small business owners. Over the past decade, he’s helped launch, scale, and restructure hundreds of companies across a wide range of industries—guiding many from idea to 7-figures and beyond.
He’s supported startups to successful exits, co-created and advised multiple accelerators, and was part of the early team at a company that earned a spot in Techstars / Stanford's StartX and raised venture funding. Before Unconventional, Aaron worked as an investment banker in New York. Today, he brings deep operational experience to help founders fix broken systems and scale with clarity. His mission is simple: equip founders with the frameworks and execution they need to build businesses that actually work.
In January 2024, Argent Strategies rebranded to Unconventional Ventures, signifying a renewed dedication to its foundational goals of providing education, resources, and coaching for early-stage startup Founders. This rebrand reflects Unconventional's ongoing commitment to delivering unparalleled value to Founders, Partners, and Communities.
Unconventional's also operates as a venture studio* with a portfolio of over a dozen equity positions across a diverse set of industries where I serve as Co-Founder and/or early team member.
*Venture studios collaborate with founders and partners to transform challenges and ideas into investable opportunities and scalable businesses. These ideas originate from three key sources: prospective founders, the studio's internal team, or its partners. Once an idea is validated, the studio provides financial backing and hands-on operational support. The venture studio model is designed to equip founders with a team of experts and essential resources, enabling them to develop products, enter markets, attract customers, and scale more efficiently than they could independently.
In collaboration with Chris Daniels from the Shrimp Society, Aaron played a pivotal role in Venture Miami’s first-ever accelerator series named “Built In Miami.” Over the season, they mentored 100+ ambitious Founders over the span of 3 accelerators focusing on idea validation, minimum viable product development, and traction development / capital raising respectively. Their experience, guidance, and connections proved instrumental to the participants, contributing to the successful launch of several promising startups and generating significant buzz within the Miami tech scene.
After beginning his career in investment banking at Barclays in NYC, Aaron shifted his focus from capital raising and advisory for large companies to hands-on business advisory for early-stage startups, offering critical support where Founders lacked expertise. He relocated from NYC to Miami, where his vision for Argent Strategies fully materialized. In Miami, he became an active participant in the startup community, supporting Founders through coaching and mentorship. Over time, his involvement expanded to include supporting a variety of communities across the United States and internationally.
